Securing a Proctor
Students are responsible for identifying an appropriate proctor and setting up arrangements for taking a test according to the noted guidelines below.

for the Tennessee Board of Regents Universities, Community Colleges, Technical Institutes, and Tennessee Technology Centers.

Step 1
Choose any TBR institution. If you cannot find a suitable TBR institution, you may work with your instructor to find a proctor at some other location, such as at a public library or other non-TBR school or institution.
Step 2
Email the person at your chosen institution who can give you Information. Request a proctor and send the following
information:
- Your name
- Email
- Phone
- Instructor's name
- Instructor's email
- Instructor's phone
- Course name
- Course number
- Semester and year
- Date and time proctor needed
If you get no response by email, try telephoning. |

Step 3
Tell your proctor to send an email message directly to your instructor. The message should include the following
information:
- Proctor name
- Title
- Place of employment
- Email
- Phone
- Student name
- Course name
- Course number
Step 4
Your instructor will notify you when your proctor has made contact. Your instructor will reply to your proctor and send directions, material, passwords, etc., for your proctored
examination or essay directly to the proctor.
You are responsible for setting up a time to meet with your proctor. |
Proctor's Duties
1) Your proctor will see to it that you have a quiet, distraction-free place in which to take your exam or write your essay.
2) Your proctor will see to it that you have the materials and equipment you need to take the exam or write the essay.
3) In addition, the proctor will do the following when you arrive:
a) Check to ensure that you are who you say you are (bring a photo ID for this purpose),
b) Hand you any print materials from your instructor you will need for the exam or essay,
c) Be able to assure you that you can access needed URLs,
d) Provide you with any needed passwords,
e) Make sure that you are not disturbed or distracted by other people,
f) Make sure that you understand the conditions for taking the exam or writing the essay,
g) Make sure that you and not someone else does the work,
h) Take up any print materials (as needed) when you are finished, and
i) Be able to assure you that you have completed any computerized work and have submitted it appropriately via
computer.
