"I knew it was time for me to become a Nurse Preceptor--but I also knew that I didn't have time to take traditional classes, especially while already working on my Master's in Nursing. That's why online classes were a lifesaver for me. Soon I'll be teaching other nurses and truly making a difference!" Susan Williamson, RN, Nurse Preceptor

WHAT?

A comprehensive analysis of concepts required for effective performance of a preceptor in a healthcare setting.  The course is designed to be a meaningful guide for the preceptor of a BSN or MSN nursing student.

WHO?

Community RNs who will be and/or are preceptors of  BSN or MSN nursing students.

WHERE?

One may take this course in the privacy of his/her home or at work.  You will need the following:  Computer with internet access, at least Microsoft Word '98, and comfortable navigating the Web and email usage.

WHY?

All nursing programs in the state use preceptors for their ADN, BSN and MSN clinical nursing students.  Most healthcare agencies use the concept of a preceptorship in the orientation of new employees. Because of the prevailing use of the preceptor concept, there is a need to have a course online to enhance the convenience of attendance for the busy community RN.  This continuing nursing education activity is approved by the Tennessee Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
