WHAT?
The course will cover the principles and methods of clinical screening in physical therapy practice and briefly summarize diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, and other medical diagnostic procedures. A basic format for musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, integumentary, and cardiopulmonary screening in physical therapy will be presented, with a focus on differential diagnosis within the scope of physical therapy practice, and incorporation of the role of the physical therapist as it interfaces with the role of the physician.

One may take this course in the privacy of their home or at work.  You will need the following:  Computer with internet access, have and be able to use at least Microsoft Word ‘98, and comfortable navigating the Web and email usage.
WHY?

Physical therapists in the State of Tennessee are now able to exercise Direct Access if they have done one of the following three things:

  • Completed a masters or doctorate degree in physical therapy with one year of experience
  • Completed an approved clinical fellowship or residency
  • Experienced three years of clinical practice and have taken a 1.5 CEU (15 contact hours) in differential diagnostics
