Online learning requires certain skills, behavior, study habits, computer equipment, and discipline in order to be successful. Therefore, students enrolled in online courses through RODP/ROCE are encouraged to complete an Online Mastery Test each semester and e-mail the Proof of Completion to all their online instructors using the Desire2Learn e-mail attachment in each class.

ONLINE MASTERY TEST &
Certificate and Completion

All students enrolled in an online course through RODP/ROCE will be required to complete this Online Mastery Test for the purpose of verifying the competencies for a successful experience online. This test will assist students in assessing their knowledge, skills, technical requirements, support student services, technical assistance, and listings of academic resources to support students online.

Preparation for RODP/ROCE Online Classes:
This test will prepare students for their online classes by requiring them to review the courses syllabus, verifying the text books for the courses, being aware of required proctoring, technical support, library services, and how to use the Desire2Learn course management tools for accessing, communicating, and completing assignments.

 I know how to login to the RODP/ROCE Virtual Library via the RODP Virtual Library Login page and access full text resources at the RODP Online Databases page.
  I am aware and have the skills to balance my time so that I spend a minimum of five (5) hours per weeks for each of my online classes and require communicating / participating at least every other day.

  I am aware that online classes require self-discipline.

I have a back-up plan in case my computer crashes or breaks. *Students are responsible for having a back-up plan for emergencies. Students are still held responsible for their assignments regardless if their computer is non-functional.

Verification of Skills:
Note: Students will be able to log in to Desire2Learn on the FIRST DAY of the semester.

1 After you have completed the Mastery Test above, press the SUBMIT button below and save the file (Certificate.rtf) to our computer. You may need to allow pop-ups temporarily for the fole to download. Internet Explorer users, please watch for a yellow bar to appear at the top of your browser window.

2. Log into your Desire2Learn account. (If you have problems please contact Technical Support at 1-866-550-7637)

3.  Using the e-Mail tool in Desire2Learn (which is private) you are to e-mail each instructor your name, address, phone number, and external e-mail address (like Hotmail, Yahoo, gMail, etc.) for emergencies. You are to attach the Certificate of Completion to the e-mail as an attachment.

Please know that this form is required for each of your classes. Your instructor may also use this form to verify attendance and that you are prepared for learning online.
