Course
Description: |
The focus of this course
is on advanced nursing and healthcare management of children and
adolescents. Course content includes developmental, physiological,
pathological, and psychosocial changes relative to health maintenance,
acute and chronic illnesses, and developmental transitions within the
family context.

Course
Objectives: |
Upon completion of
this course, the student will be able to:
- Assess
the development and health status of children and adolescents;
- Develop
advanced nursing plans of care to manage the delivery of health
care to children and adolescents in diverse settings;
- Apply
knowledge from nursing and related disciplines in the formulation
of diagnoses and intervention strategies used to promote health
and manage acute and chronic health alterations in children and
adolescents;
- Integrate
research findings into the management of child and adolescent
health concerns;
- Analyze
the family system to identify factors that influence the health of
the child and adolescent;
- Analyze
existing protocols using established standards of care for
intervention in acute and chronic health alterations in children
and adolescents; and
- Relate
the role and scope of practice of the family nurse practitioner to
health care of children and adolescents.

Late Assignments:
Late assignment will
receive a 10% grade reduction for each day or portion of a day that
the assignment is late. Central standard time will be used as the
standard in this course.

Assignment Dropbox unless otherwise indicated. Other assignments may include
the Reflection and Analysis Paper, Discussion Board (Participation and Leadership Component), Module
Assignments, Quizzes, Midterm, and Final Examination. See Calendar for dates
due.

Students are expected to
participate in all interactive aspects of the course. Students

be avoided unless necessary to complete an assignment or other communication.
