John St.Clair is the Executive Director of Training and Technical Services for the Tennessee Board of Regents Online Degree Program (RODP). The RODP coordinates certificate and degree programs offered by the technology centers, colleges, and universities of the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR). Mr. St.Clair joined the Board of Regents staff in July, 2001, as Director of Training and Faculty Development.
Prior to joining TBR, Mr. St.Clair was an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Motlow State Community College. Mr. St.Clair's teaching experience at Motlow College spanned twelve years and included courses in developmental mathematics, collegiate mathematics, and computer programming. While at Motlow College, Mr. St.Clair served as the Web Design Editor of the Distillery literary magazine as well as one term as Chair of the Faculty Council.
Mr. St.Clair was instrumental in creating Motlow College's first web site and also was one of the first professors to teach web enhanced and fully online courses. He served on the staff of the Mathematics Archives from 1994-1998. In addition to online instruction, Mr. St.Clair is also interested in the pedagogy of elementary school mathematics and administered and participated in several Eisenhower grants directed toward elementary schools teachers.
Mr. St.Clair's previous experience includes eight years teaching mathematics at Tullahoma High School where he also coached girls' basketball and boys' soccer. He also taught seventh grade mathematics at Coffee County Junior High School for six years.
Mr. St.Clair is currently a doctoral student at Tennessee State University and holds an M.S. degree in mathematics from Middle Tennessee State University, 1985. He has presented at several national and regional mathematics and distance education conferences.
