New Technical Certificate and AAS Degree: Web Technology
This program will provide two concentrations: 1) Web Development and 2) Certified Internet Web (CIW) Professional Design. This certificate and degree offer students skills in Web site design, development, and implementation, training students to develop and maintain Web sites using authoring and scripting languages, create content and digital media, and employ standards and technologies for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-commerce Web sites.
• This degree has a basic Web design core of courses in the first year, which earn the student a certificate in Web Page Authoring. The second year builds on this certificate and offers the student a choice between the two concentrations: 1) Web Development and CIW Professional Design.
• The CIW concentration includes three courses (nine credit hours) based on a vendor-neutral curriculum that can lead to a national certification in Web site design. These courses validate Web design competency based on national IT industry standards. Both the Web Development and CIW concentrations will give the student the necessary tools with which functional and attractive Web sites can be built.
• The Web Development concentration additionally offers training in project management as well as the development of skills in using audio a video features and basic Photoshop techniques to build Web sites. The CIW concentration teaches standards and technologies for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-Commerce Web sites. Note: The degree is not for programming, vendor-specific networking, or Internet security.
