This online course is divided into two parts.  The first is the Theory.  Satisfactory completion of the Theory part is required before progressing to the second part, the Clinical class.  The Clinical part must be completed under the supervision of a preceptor. 

Theory: 70 hours online instruction  
Clinical: 30 hours with a preceptor   

REQUIRED TEXT: Textbook of Basic Nursing, Study Guide For Basic Nursing, and Procedures Checklist- Basic Nursing

OTHER FEES: You may begin the Theory part of the course while obtaining the required documentation.  To complete the LPN Refresher Course, you must provide the following documentation (included are the approximate fees for each):

  • Malpractice insurance:  $89.00-104.00
  • Urine drug screen:         $50.00-75.00
  • Physical:                           $100.00 (minimum)
  • Reactivation of license  $150.00

WHAT?

Online course designed to assist LPNs who have not been active in nursing to review basic nursing skills and update their knowledge base to include the latest findings and procedures in medical-surgical nursing and pharmacology in nursing

WHO?

Any LPN with current, active licensure or any LPN with an inactive licensure
NOTE:  Any LPN who has not been engaged in the practice of nursing for five years must contact the Tennessee Board of Nursing for counsel and approval of enrollment in this course.

WHERE?

The “classroom portion” of this course may be taken in the privacy of their home or at work online.  You will need to:

  • Have access to a computer with internet access
  • Have and be able to use at least Microsoft Word ‘98
  • Be able to navigate the Web and use email

The clinical part of this course will be completed in any approved healthcare facility.

WHY?

This online course will prepare the LPN to re-enter the nursing field.  It will focus on adult health nursing and pharmacology.
