Adding Discussion Questions to Topics

As in WebCT, discussion questions do not transfer from the master copy to the semester course shell.  However, if the discussion questions are placed in the topic descriptions, they will transfer each time the course is copied.  This is time-saving feature as it eliminates the need for the instructor to add the discussion questions each semester.

If you have already created Forums and Topics, the following directions will guide you through adding your discussion questions to the topic description in a format that will transfer each time your course is copied.

  1. Go to Discussion
  2. Click on Modify Forums & Topics
  3. The Discussions are divided into Forums (highlighted in grey) and topics.
  4. Click on the name of the topic.
  5. Beside Description, click on the html editor (the paper/pencil icon).  Add your discussion question in the box provided in the html editor. 
  6. Click Insert
  7. Make sure that the box is checked beside html
  8. Click Save
