Course Information
Course Description:
The Bulletin description for this course is: Functions of Supervisory Personnel. This course is designed to provide the student with an overview of supervisory and management functions and the factors which must be considered in a supervisory or managerial position. Course activities will include such things as discussion group projects and case studies. 
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to describe the importance and place of supervision in the business organization, and the handling of human relationships with employees, fellow supervisors and higher management in business, including manufacturing and construction industries.
Prerequisites and Corequisites:
There are no prerequisites, however, the student should have at least Junior class standing.
Course Topics:
All modules will be followed in sequence and according to the calendar.

Assessment and Grading
Testing Procedures:
All examinations will be given online. Students will need to contact the instructor if other methods, such as proctoring, are needed.
Grading Procedure:
The grades will reflect the student's performance from all required course activities. High achievement in the course will occur when the student is actively involved in all required learning events.

Week 2: Finish Unit 2
Week 3: Test on Units 1 and 2, discussion, submit paper topic
Week 4: Finish Unit 3
Week 5: Finish Unit 4, feedback survey
Week 6: Test on Units 3 and 4, discussion, submit outline of paper
Week 7: Finish Unit 5
Week 8: Finish Unit 6
Week 9: Test on Units 5 and 6, discussion, submit draft of paper

Week 11: Finish Unit 8
Week 12: Final Exam, turn in term paper 
Class Participation:
Students must participate in all interactive aspects of the course. For example, students must communicate with other students in the chat room, students are expected to communicate with the instructor as a learning resource, students must check the course bulletin board frequently for announcements, and students must actively participate in threaded discussion events.
Punctuality:
The course milestones are set up for weekly goals. The student will complete study units or take exams each week. The goal is to get each week's assignment done by Sunday. New assignments start on Monday.

Participation is required, Expected to communicate with other students in team projects, Learn how to navigate in WebCT, Keep abreast of course announcements ,Use the assigned college or university e-mail address as opposed a personal e-mail address, Address technical problems immediately, Observe course netiquette at all times. 
Guidelines for Communications
Email:
  • Always include a subject line. 
  • Remember without facial expressions some comments may be taken the wrong way. Be careful in wording your emails. Use of emoticons might be helpful in some cases. 
  • Use standard fonts. 
  • Do not send large attachments without permission. 
  • Special formatting such as centering, audio messages, tables, html, etc. should be avoided unless necessary to complete an assignment or other communication. 
  • Respect the privacy of other class members
Discussion Groups:
  • Review the discussion threads thoroughly before entering the discussion. Be a lurker then a discussant.
  • Try to maintain threads by using the "Reply" button rather starting a new topic. 
  • Do not make insulting or inflammatory statements to other members of the discussion group. Be respectful of other’s ideas. 
  • Be patient and read the comments of other group members thoroughly before entering your remarks. 
  • Be cooperative with group leaders in completing assigned tasks. 
  • Be positive and constructive in group discussions. 
  • Respond in a thoughtful and timely manner.
Chat:
  • Introduce yourself to the other learners in the chat session.
  • Be polite. Choose your words carefully. Do not use derogatory statements. 
  • Be concise in responding to others in the chat session. 
  • Be prepared to open the chat session at the scheduled time. 
  • Be constructive in your comments and suggestion
