
Dr. Carol Helton is the Director of Education and Professional Studies for the Regents Online Degree Program (RODP).
Prior to joining the RODP staff, Dr. Helton served as an Associate Professor and also as the Coordinator of Online Education at Tennessee State University. Her responsibilities at TSU included
the coordination of all online courses, WebCT training, WebCT administration, and serving as the RODP Campus Contact.
Dr. Helton is an experienced educator both online and in the classroom. She developed TSU's second online course, "Orientation for Non-Traditional Students," in 2001. In the traditional on-ground classroom, she has taught students ranging from grades 5 through graduate school.
Dr. Helton earned her undergraduate degree in English from Peabody College of Vanderbilt. She completed her Master of Education degree in Reading from the University of Memphis and then earned her Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee State University.
Dr. Helton's primary responsibilities include:
- Coordination of the RODP Education Program
- Coordination of the RODP Master of Professional Studies Program
- Coordination of the Teacher Education Curriculum Committee
- Coordination of the Master of Professional Studies Planning Committee
- Assisting with the preparation of documentation for SACS and NCATE accrediting agencies
- Assisting with the recruiting and marketing of both programs
